  • Team and player data: team names, player names, jersey numbers, positions, and other roster information you enter.
  • Match and statistics data: game scores, player performance statistics, and other match-related data you record.
  • Payment information: when subscribing to a paid plan, your payment details are collected and processed by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number on our servers.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, we may automatically collect:

  • Usage data: how you interact with the Service, features you use, and actions you take.
  • Device information: browser type, operating system, and device type.
  • Authentication tokens: used to keep you signed in and secure your session.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Service uses cookies and similar local storage technologies for the following purposes:

  • Essential/Authentication cookies: Firebase Authentication uses cookies and local storage to manage your login session, keep you signed in, and secure your account. These are strictly necessary for the Service to function.
  • Session storage: we use browser session storage for temporary state management during checkout and invite processes. This data is automatically cleared when you close your browser.
  • Payment cookies: Stripe, our payment processor, may set cookies to process payments securely and prevent fraud.

We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking purposes. The cookies used are essential for the operation of the Service. By using the Service, you consent to the use of these essential cookies.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including storing and displaying your teams, players, and match statistics.
  • Process your subscription payments and manage your account.

  • Provide AI-powered game analysis when you use that feature.
  • Communicate with you about your account, service updates, and support requests.
  • Improve and develop new features for the Service.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with the following third parties, solely to provide and support the Service:

  • Firebase (Google Cloud): for authentication, database storage, and cloud functions. Data is stored in the EU (europe-west4 region). Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Stripe: for payment processing. Stripe receives your payment information to process transactions. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Google AI (Vertex AI / Generative AI): match data may be sent to Google's AI services when you use the AI analysis feature. Subject to Google Cloud Terms.

We may also disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CourtSide Stats, our users, or others.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using Firebase (Google Cloud) services located in the EU (europe-west4, Netherlands). We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS).
  • Firebase security rules to restrict data access.
  • Role-based access control within the application.
  • Secure password hashing handled by Firebase Authentication.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or Sweden, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

The Service is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. Coaches and team managers may enter player data for minors on their teams; they are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate parental consent to do so.

Your data is primarily stored within the EU. However, some third-party services (such as Stripe and Google AI) may process data outside the EU. In such cases, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your data.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service. The updated policy will be effective when posted, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the changes.
